But you can still hear it in many Western nations, including Canada, the USA, the UK and Australia. There are several localized dialects of Amharic, but there are three main ones, including Gondar, Gojjami, and Showa. We have a vast database of qualified professional Amharic translators and interpreters who are ready to help you communicate with your audience.
Amharic Language is an Afro-Asiatic language and is the official language of Ethiopia, also called Amarinya or Kuchumba. It is a morphologically rich language and has similar characteristics in the Semitic language family like Arabic, Hebrew, Tigrinya, etc. Amharic is the second largest Semitic spoken language in the world after Arabic. This language is very different both when spoken and written. Amharic is written in a slightly modified form of the alphabet of the Geez language and there are 33 basic characters. Each character has seven forms depending on which vowel is to be pronounced in the syllable.
There are specially marked differences in pronunciation, vocabulary, and grammar between each of the dialects, depending on the region of your audience. We make sure that an effective localization strategy is being applied for your translation, which means that we will ask you what the target audience is and will be sure to tailor the translator’s expertise and background to this region.
While both languages might be Semitic, they are actually very different in terms of their pronunciations, terms and words. If you need translations between the two languages, we can help you with our services.
