Our team is prepared for complex conferences including breakout rooms, multiple languages, or virtual conferences where delegates will need to switch channels. For in-person events, we are able to be the one-stop provider and take care of Audio Visual rentals as well as headsets and integration with your speakers. We also provide training materials for speakers who haven’t worked with simultaneous interpreters before.
Certification of Conference Interpreters cannot be taken lightly. This is an essential component of hiring conference interpreters and they must be able to produce proof of certification at any time to us or to the client in order to ensure quality services are being rendered to the client. As part of our translation services in Canada, we are able to present proof of certification of the interpreters as well as a reference to the interpreters’ limits and work conditions from the certifying body.
The interpreters we work with are recognized Federally as well as internationally as Certified Conference Interpreters and are required to take exams and abide by a Code of Ethics in order to maintain their status as certified. Many of the interpreters have a Master’s in Conference Interpreting from recognized Universities in Canada and Internationally.
A simultaneous interpreter is when an interpreter continuously (or simultaneously) interprets or translates speech without stopping, conveying the message almost instantly into the target language. This is ideal for scenarios where an individual is addressing an audience and is not pausing to wait for an interpreter to translate their speech. A simultaneous interpreter generally is located in a soundproof booth (or in the case of virtual, in a different audio channel) at the back of the conference room. The sound feeds into the booth and the interpreter speaks into a microphone connected to a switchboard. This switchboard sends audio out to headsets where listeners can tune into the specific language channel.
For example, Channel 1: English, Channel 2: French, Channel 3: Arabic, Channel 4: Spanish etc. This type of work is very extensive and mentally costly so when events exceed 45 minutes, interpreters will work in teams of 2 or more.
Simultaneous interpreting is a very strenuous job and takes severe concentration. Due to the nature of their job, industry professionals have created the following standards:
