Whatever dealings you might have with CIC, it is important for them to know who you really are. An identity document, also known as a piece of identification or ID for short, is a document used to verify a person’s identity. These documents are important for a number of reasons:
First, your civil rights as a citizen or resident can only be protected if the government knows who you are.
Second, these documents reduce the incidence of identity fraud.
Third, they help the government to create a database for the compilation of vital statistics.
Fourth, they can provide a historical timeline as evidence for one’s claimed identity.
Finally, documents such as birth certificates provide proof of a relationship to a sponsor in Canada, for those coming to Canada through family.
For all these reasons you may need a Certified Translator and a Certified Translation from Languages in Motion.

Why Use Our Services
Language translation is a highly specialized profession and without proper training, not even bilingual or multi-lingual people can hope to attain the kind of quality expected in the industry. The risks in using untrained and volunteer translators and interpreters have been well documented.
LiM is very much aware of the dangers posed by untrained translators and interpreters and we pride ourselves on the fact that we use very highly trained translators and interpreters and we work exclusively with Certified Translators (except in languages where there are no certified translators) and Professional Interpreters. ALL of our Certified Translators are certified by a provincial Certifying Body in Canada. This means that documents translated by LiM are accepted Canada-wide without the need for notarization, a Commissioner for Oaths, or an affidavit because they are certified translations done by Certified Translators.
WARNING: If you receive a translation without the translators name on it, a Translator’s Number, or if you see a Commissioner for Oaths has stamped the document, it was probably not done by a Certified Translator.

What LiM needs from you:
Please provide an original, high definition scan or a certified true copy of the Identity Document(s). This ensures that the important details such as the governing body, date issued, gender, and date of birth can be clearly seen and the translation can proceed without any problems. If you choose to scan and send your Identity Document by email, please make sure that all information on the document is clearly visible. If the document is in a language with non-English characters such as Arabic, Chinese, Russian, Korean, Japanese or Hindi, for example, please include the correct English spelling of all of the names in the document(s).
